From October 9th to 11th, Almazov Centre hosted the XII Saint Petersburg School of Arrhythmology 2024, themed “Arrhythmology: a multidisciplinary approach”.
The event was held as part of the programme of the WCRC for Personalized Medicine with support from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The event aimed:
— To enhance diagnostic and treatment standards for the management of patients with heart rhythm disorders.
— To facilitate the introduction of advanced technologies for diagnostics, medication, surgical and interventional treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with heart rhythm disorders.
— To provide training for cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, physicians and functional diagnosticians in modern diagnostic methods, and in the most recent developments in the non-surgical and interventional approaches to the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders, as well as in the prevention of complications.
Discussions were centred around the topical issues of modern arrhythmology, including various aspects of diagnosis, non-surgical and interventional approaches to the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disorders. Plenary and breakout sessions, symposia, workshops and round tables focused on the main topics of arrhythmology. The event included live broadcasts from operating theatres and hands-on training on simulators.
This year’s programme focused on a multidisciplinary approach to cardiac rhythm disorders and included symposia on the following topics:
— arrhythmias and coronary artery disease
— arrhythmias and cardiomyopathies
— arrhythmias and congenital heart defects
— arrhythmias and genetic disorders
There were separate sessions and practical masterclasses for nurses, with a focus on teamwork in the electrophysiology operating room and the management of patients with arrhythmias in the outpatient and inpatient settings.
