From 14 to 17 November, the XXVI Moscow International Congress of Endovascular Surgery took place in Moscow. The Congress was chaired by the Congress President, Academician of RAS, Professor Bagrat Alekian. The specialists of the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery at Almazov Centre played an active role in the proceedings, delivering 11 presentations on current issues related to endovascular treatment for diseases of the peripheral artery, aortic arch, thoracoabdominal aorta, heart valves, and coronary artery.
Over the past 25 years, the number of participants has increased sevenfold. At the Moscow Endovascular Congress 2024, for instance, there were over 1500 participants from Russia and 19 foreign countries.
The intensive programme spanned four days and was devoted to the most advanced developments and achievements of endovascular surgery. Researchers from the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery, Almaz Vanyurkin, Yulia Panteleeva, Aleksey Prokhorikhin, Dmitry Zubarev, and Artem Gorbatykh, presented the results of hybrid and endovascular treatment for multilevel lesions of peripheral arteries, as well as their accumulated experience of open and endovascular treatment of carotid arteries. In his presentation, Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky, Head of the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery, shared the accumulated experience of Almazov Centre in endovascular treatment of the most complex condition in cardiovascular surgery – thoracoabdominal aorta. The number of interventions and the accumulated experience of specialists from the Research Department of Vascular and Interventional Surgery has indisputably positioned Almazov Centre as a leader in this field.
The President of the Society of Endovascular Surgery, Academician Bagrat Alekian, announced the release of the sixth volume of the National Guidelines on Endovascular Surgery. The team of authors, led by Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky, contributed to the development of Chapter 8 devoted to hybrid surgery of the aorta and peripheral arteries.
