On May 11, 2018, the Scientific Council of the Almazov Centre held a joint meeting chaired by Director General Evgeny Shlyakhto, President of the Russian Society of Cardiology and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Professor Jeroen J. Bax, President of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), the Netherlands.
The meeting featured the following presentations on the topical issues of today’s cardiology:
- Imaging in sudden cardiac death / Аortic stenosis — a problem of the valve or the ventricle? by Prof. Jeroen Bax (Leiden, Netherlands)
- Modern imaging in cardiology: CT and MRI present and future by Prof. Vladimir Fokin (St. Petersburg, Russia)
- Cardiac nuclear imaging: state of the art and new trends by Prof. Darya Ryzhkova (St. Petersburg, Russia)
- Experimental and translational research at the Almazov Centre by Prof. Mikhail Galagudza (St. Petersburg, Russia)
The ESC President and the participants of the meeting discussed the possible options for further cooperation on the presented topics.
Prof. Jeroen Bax took a tour around the Almazov Centre and visited the Institute of Molecular Biology and Genetics, the Preclinical Translational Research Centre and the hybrid operating room.
