The joint meeting started with a welcome address by Alexandra Konradi, Deputy Director General for Research. During the meeting, Maxim Popchenko, head of the Capital Construction Department, presented the history and activities of the Almazov Centre.

Omori Masatoshi, Vice President of Nikken Sekkei, the leading architecture and engineering company in Japan, shared the Japanese experience in the design of healthcare facilities and told about the infrastructure of hospitals in Tokyo. Key areas of interest and discussion at the meeting were the design of healthcare premises and the construction of new facilities.

During the visit, the guests had an opportunity to learn about the structure and operation of PET centre and hybrid operating room and visited the Congress Hall.

It should be noted that 2018 is the cross year of Russia and Japan. In 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe adopted the 8-point plan on cooperation. The plan covers a wide range of activities from economy to culture and, in particular, the development of collaboration in the area of health care. In this regard, the visit of the Japanese delegation opens up new opportunities for future cooperation.
