On March 16, with the support of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, Polenov Neurosurgical Institute (branch of Almazov Centre), Scientific Centre of Neurology and Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine, the expert panel on chronic disorders of consciousness (DoC) held a meeting Chronic Disorders of Consciousness – Clinical Guidelines of the European Academy of Neurology, Multimodal Assessment, Follow-Up and Treatment Interventions.
The meeting was planned as part of drafting the first Russian clinical guidelines on chronic disorders of consciousness.
Considering the current epidemiological situation worldwide, heads of EAN Scientific Panel on Coma and Chronic Disorders of Consciousness Assistant Professor Daniel Kondziella, PhD, MD (Denmark) and Charlotte Martial, PhD, MD, Coma Science Group (Belgium) delivered their lectures remotely.
The meeting was moderated by Deputy Director for Research of Dzhanelidze Research Institute of Emergency Medicine, Prof. I. A. Voznyuk and head of the Study Group on Minimally Conscious State, Leading Researcher at the Polenov Neurosurgical Institute E.A. Kondratieva.
At the meeting, Chief Neurologist of St. Petersburg, Prof. I. A. Voznyuk spoke about the stages of care to patients with chronic DoC and highlighted the need to introduce additional rates for compulsory medical insurance in St. Petersburg for this category of patients.
The meeting ended with a discussion on the draft of clinical guidelines on chronic disorders of consciousness.
