Гайдаровский форум 2021_лого

On January 14–15, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) hosted the 12th Gaidar Forum, Russia and the World after the Pandemic. It brought together renowned experts, government representatives, public and political figures and business leaders from different countries.

For foreign visitors, the Forum is an important source of information on major trends in socio-economic and political development, and the status of the business environment and investment climate in Russia. While for domestic experts, participation in the Forum makes it possible to determine the prospects for Russia’s further economic growth and integration into the global economy.

Due to the epidemiological situation, the 2021 Forum was held in a mixed format where experts and speakers held panel discussions at the RANEPA central campus, while other participants watched the sessions online. The participants discussed the economic policy, challenges to healthcare and education, the employment market and foreign economic activities agenda, public administration and digitalization, environmental issues, entrepreneurship and regional development, potential points of growth, as well as other relevant issues.

The goals of the event traditionally were to engage the world’s leading academics and practitioners in a joint discussion on socioeconomic and political issues; to maintain a continuous expert dialogue on key political and socioeconomic issues; to reflect the main trends and key events in the national and global economy and politics; to work out strategic proposals and recommendations on developing the national economy; to secure Russia a place on the world’s intellectual economic map and the status as an important centre of top-level global economic discussions.

Director General of Almazov Centre, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Shlyakhto moderated the expert discussion “Fighting cardiovascular diseases: are we out of options?”, which took place on January 14.

The panelists were Vitaliy Omelyanovskiy, General Director, Centre for Healthcare Quality Assessment and Control of the Russian Ministry of Health and Pavel Pugachev, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.

According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is still the leading cause of death worldwide and the pandemic provoked an even stronger negative trend. Considering the relevance of the topic, the participants discussed the launch of a vertically integrated medical information system to help change the situation, the first-year results of measures for outpatient drug provision after acute cardiovascular events and the solutions that might help reduce the lag behind the planned dynamics.
