Preclinical studies of medical devices and testing of surgical techniques

The Preclinical Translational Research Centre has a 50-square-metre operating theatre, which is used for surgical interventions and to study the safety and efficacy of medical devices. It is equipped with two operating tables, a full set of anaesthetic equipment, respiratory and resuscitation equipment, da Vinci robotic surgery system, C-arm, X-ray machine, heart-lung Machine, expert-class ultrasound machines, laparoscopic racks, and more.
The following options are available for studies on laboratory animals:
- X-ray endovascular interventions (implantation of stents, stent grafts, artificial valves)
- Cardiopulmonary bypass surgery (e.g. heart transplantation, open valve prosthetics)
- Endoscopic procedures on abdominal organs
- Assessment of the functional state of the cardiovascular system in chronic experiments (e.g. stress testing, echocardiography, cardiac catheterization)
