Startup Studio at Almazov Centre

«University Technology Entrepreneurship Platform» Federal Project 

Almazov Centre Startup Studio LLC is a university startup studio that is part of the federal project «University Technology Entrepreneurship Platform». The founders of the Startup Studio are Almazov Centre, Fund for Infrastructure and Educational Programmes and Diakon group of companies (industrial partner).

The federal project is aimed at unlocking the entrepreneurial potential of young people and training professionals in the field of technology entrepreneurship. The studio, which was established in December 2023 at Almazov Centre, focuses on the implementation of medical technology startups. The studio's primary objective is to promote medical technology entrepreneurship by providing support and funding to university startups and projects. This initiative aims to foster the identification and development of entrepreneurial competencies among students and specialists of Almazov Centre and other educational organizations within the healthcare sector.

Projects of Startup Studio 

Since the end of 2023, the studio has provided funding totaling over RUB 25 million to support seven projects:
• Electrostimulation and monitoring system ‘Smart dressing’ for treatment of chronic wounds, guided by Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky, Head of Vascular and Interventional Surgery Research Department
• Development of multi-parameter control materials for biochemical in vitro diagnostic studies, a joint project with Diakon Group, supervised by Dr. Tatyana Vavilova, Head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine with Clinic
• Hydrogel for treatment of chronic wounds, guided by Dr. Mikhail Chernyavsky, Head of Vascular and Interventional Surgery Research Department
• ‘Healthy Sleep’ platform for the management of patients with sleep-disordered breathing, guided by Dr. Yuri Sviryaev, Head of Somnology Group, Head of Research Group of Hypersomnia and Respiratory Disorders of the WCRC for Personalized Medicine
• Anchor soft tissue fixation system with a reusable handle for arthroscopic reconstructive surgery, a joint project with RusArtro
• Development of an immunochromatographic system for emergency testing, a joint project with Diakon Group, supervised by Dr. Tatyana Vavilova, Head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine with Clinic
• Development of a tool for unified and automated quality control processes for clinical diagnostic laboratories, a joint project with Diakon Group, supervised by Dr. Tatyana Vavilova, Head of the Department of Laboratory Medicine with Clinic.
 

The startups created at Almazov Centre will contribute to the innovative development and technological modernization of the Russian economy in the field of medicine, pharmaceuticals and related industries.
