After the welcome words received from Russian Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova, the Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Kuivashev opened the Congress and welcomed the participants.
Barbara Casadei, President of the European Society of Cardiology and Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford, gave a presentation on the use of big data for understanding cardiovascular disease.
Prof. Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre and President of the Russian Society of Cardiology, gave a presentation on the role of the Society in the implementation of the National Healthcare Project.
At the end of the opening ceremony, awards of the Russian Society of Cardiology and of the Young Scientists Competition 2019 were presented.
