On April 7–8, the specialists of the Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging Department of Almazov Centre took part in the 14th International Congress Nevsky Radiology Forum 2023, which took place in St. Petersburg. This major all-Russian scientific event annually brings together a large number of international experts.
Teachers and students of the department led by Professor Gennady Trufanov, chief researcher at the Research Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Head of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging of the Institute of Medical Education, became not only active participants in the congress and winners of scientific competitions, but also contributed to the organisation of scientific and practical sessions, as well as the diagnostic radiology competition.
Alexander Efimtsev, Associate Professor of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the Institute of Medical Education, and Professor Vladimir Fokin, Head of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, chaired the training session entitled “Topical Issues of Neuroimaging – from Science to Practice”, which highlighted the latest trends in the development of diagnostic radiology. Postgraduate students from the department gave presentations: «Evaluation of the progression of multiple sclerosis using MRI morphometry» by Gorbunova E.A., «The ratio of structural and functional changes in the brain in patients with hypersomnia after ischaemic stroke» by Trushina L.I., «Functional MRI in the diagnosis of oligomenorrhoea» by Shtenzel R.E.
The Round Table on Modern Aspects of Teaching Diagnostic Radiology in Russia discussed current issues and trends in working with medical students. Prof. Gennady Trufanov spoke about the integration of science into the educational process using the example of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging with the Clinic.
At the multidisciplinary scientific and practical session with international participation «Megafocus on the placenta», specialists in the field of prenatal diagnostic testing, chaired by I. A. Maschenko, discussed the issues of diagnosing placental abnormalities.
A multidisciplinary team consisting of I. V. Tikhonenko (Minsk) and E. D. Vyshedkevich (St. Petersburg) presented a joint analysis of clinical cases “Analysis of clinical cases of trophoblastic disease, thrombohematoma and placenta accreta through ultrasound and MRI”.
A student of the department I. D. Panfilov took part in the training session for X-ray laboratory assistants “X-ray laboratory methods for the study of the head and central nervous system” with a presentation entitled “CT and MRI methods of brain perfusion imaging”.
The specialists of the department participated as speakers at various sessions.
Students and residents of Almazov Centre won the Best Research Award.
The Nevsky Radiology Forum also featured a game on diagnostic radiology “NRF-RING”, organized by the graduates of the Diagnostic Radiology and Medical Imaging Department: Yu. P. Kopteva, M. S. Baev and D. S. Chegina. Challenging and non-standard tasks allowed young specialists from different cities of the country to demonstrate their skills in diagnostic radiology.
