An interregional round table entitled «Prematurity: [UN]MISSED OPPORTUNITY» took place on November 28. It was organized by the Russian Association of Perinatal Medicine and the Association of Specialists in Perinatal Medicine, Pregnancy, Newborn and Infant Care.
The project aims to draw the attention of the medical community and the general public to the issues related to the doctor's responsibility for the future of children born prematurely and at term, with congenital and acquired conditions.
The meeting took place as a teleconference between Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Cheboksary, Ivanovo and was streamed live to all regions of Russia.
More than 1,000 doctors took part in the discussion, including chief consultants (neonatologists, obstetrician-gynecologists, pediatricians, infectious disease specialists, pediatric neurologists and health care executives).
The meeting was moderated by Anton Olenev, Chief Visiting Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Moscow Health Department. In Saint Petersburg, the meeting was coordinated by the representatives of Almazov Centre: Tatyana Pervunina, Director of the Institute of Perinatology and Pediatrics, and Natalia Petrova, Head of Research Laboratory of Physiology and Diseases in Newborns.
Participants discussed the implementation of specific technologies and the results of the implementation.
In addition, the event presented a new design of a Children's Doctor's Cap to be awarded to the best Russian doctors providing medical care to premature babies as a symbol of continuity and united effort.
