Forum budushchikh tekhnologiy_глав

On February 13-14, the 2nd Future Technologies Forum took place in Moscow. The forum is a part of Russia's Decade of Science and Technology, aiming to stimulate the growth of knowledge-intensive sectors by presenting advanced scientific solutions and technologies. Forum participants discussed genetic technologies as part of the medicine of the future, the development of neurotechnologies in healthcare, regenerative medicine as a way to restore lost health, and biotechnologies in personalized healthcare, including active longevity technologies and preventive medicine.

Supported by several Russian ministries and agencies, the event brought together government officials, specialists from biomedical, neurotechnology and innovation companies, researchers, and scientists.

Before the presentation by Evgeny Shlyakhto, Director General of Almazov Centre, the moderator of the session, Sergey Zhdanov, Director of Sberbank’s Health Industry Centre, recalled that an important event had taken place on the eve of the Forum: Sber's GigaChat neural network model became one of the first in the world to pass the medical exam. The examination panel chaired by Prof. Shlyakhto gave the neural network a grade of 4 (good).

Evgeny Shlyakhto said:

“The fact that Sber's neural network has passed the medical exam is an important milestone for the development of medicine in our country. It is the result of the joint work of specialists from the Sber’s Health Industry Centre, our institution and the GigaChat development team. We trained the model for six months and found that it knew a lot. But certain exam tension was still there. Especially when my colleagues started asking very difficult additional questions that required deep knowledge. In particular, there were specific questions about surgery. To the model's credit, it did very well in the exam. Of course, we are not talking about GigaChat being able to treat people tomorrow. Our goal is to use intelligent models to free up doctors' time so they can spend more time with patients.”

E. Shlyakhto touched on the following topics in his speech: the introduction of modern scientific achievements into healthcare, transformation of medicine in response to the challenges of time and society, moving towards patient-centered and personalized medicine, multimodal neural networks, healthcare of the future and the target outcome.

The session «Advanced technologies in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery» featured a presentation by Alexandra Konradi, Deputy Director General for Research.

«There are many barriers to the introduction of innovations in medicine. Our task is to facilitate the introduction of new achievements into practice, but at the same time to avoid risks to the safety of medical care. Every innovation must not only pass safety tests, but also prove its cost-effectiveness,» says Prof. Konradi.
