Scientific life in 2011

 

Federal Almazov Medical Research Centre (former Federal Almazov Centre of Heart, Blood and Endocrinology) initiated and coordinated the study being held in 30 regions of the country “National Study on the prevention of cardiovascular complications in patients with hypertension and obesity”.

Director of the Centre Evgeniy Shlyakhto was unanimously elected RAMS academician on the XXV (88) session of the general meeting of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in December 10, 2011. Director of the Centre was awarded “The Fame” award in 2011 in the category “Health” on the awarding ceremony held on March 16 in the Kremlin; Evgeniy Shlyakhto became the prizewinner of the Government of St. Petersburg for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of science and technology in the “Physiology and Medicine” for the development and introduction of new medical technologies for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system, aimed at improving health care of St. Petersburg and the North-West Federal District population.

Evgeniy Shlyakhto was unanimously elected as the new President of the Russian Society of Cardiology on the report-election conference of the Russian National Congress of Cardiology held in Moscow on October 11-13 2011; Evgeny Shlyakhto entered the list of the ten most influential physicians of Russia in 2011 by the magazine “Russian Reporter” on September 29, 2011.

Authors of Federal Almazov Medical Research Centre became the winners of Innovative projects in the field of science and higher education in St. Petersburg in 2011 under the leadership N.S. Scherbak, project “Combating ischemic brain injury by target neuroprotective drugs delivery”.
A. A. Karpov: award from the Government of St. Petersburg to the winner of grants for graduate students of universities and academic institutions of St. Petersburg (thesis project).

D. S. Lebedev, A. M. Osadchiy: winners for innovative projects in the field of science and higher education of St. Petersburg in 2011 with the project “Access choice in the left ventricular electrode implantation for permanent pacing in the treatment of chronic heart failure” in the nomination “The best scientific innovative idea”.

S. V. Sidorkevich, G. G. Baratashvili: awarded a silver medal on the 14 Moscow International Salon of Inventions and Innovation Technologies “Archimedes”. The international jury of the Salon and expert commission awarded the staff of Federal Almazov Medical Research Centre for the development of “Erythrocytes harvesting method”.

A. I. Tukavin, M. M. Galagudza: Winner at the Annual competition of scientific works in he most socially significant diseases “Vanguard of Knowledge”.
A. V. Lavreshin: Winner of the “Young, audacious, promising” contest by the Committee on Science and Higher Education of the Government of St. Petersburg. Supervisor: D.I. Kurapeev.

I. S. Uskov: award from the Government of St. Petersburg to the winners of grants for graduate students of universities and academic institutions located in the territory of St. Petersburg (thesis project).

N. S. Scherbak, D. A. Ovchinnikov, A. N. Kuzmenkov, M. M. Galagudza, L. B. Mitrofanova, E. R. Barantsevich, E. V. Shlyakhto won a gold medal for the development of the “method of modeling global ischemia brain in small laboratory animals” at the VII International Salon of inventions and new technologies “New time”, Sevastopol, September 22-24 2011.
