7th Annual Neurosurgery Meeting of the Northwestern Federal District was held online from 20 to 21 November 2020.
Today, the issues of maintaining public health and improving the demographic situation are among the top priorities of the state. In this context, the main task of the conference was to shape a strategy for the development of neurosurgery not only in the Northwestern Federal District but also in the Russian Federation in general, based on the joint efforts of various professionals.
Director General of Almazov Centre, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Shlyakhto welcomed the participants of the conference.
“The development principles of Almazov Centre are based on the concept of a multidisciplinary value-based approach to patient treatment, relying not only on the highest professionalism of each member of the medical community but also on respectful solidarity and a friendly atmosphere in the team. I hope that this neurosurgery conference will be held under the slogan of mutual respect, openness and professionalism, ” highlighted Evgeny Shlyakhto.
The conference covered the current problems of diagnosis and treatment of various neurosurgical diseases. It focused on the challenges in treating glial brain tumors, discussed postoperative complications, their classification, possible staging options and preventive measures. To improve the results of neurosurgical treatment, the conference featured presentations by specialists in related fields: ENT doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, pathologists, radiologists and maxillofacial surgeons.
