General

Currently, Almazov Centre is implementing 16 grant projects, including 8 grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR), 6 grants from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) and 2 grants from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The most prestigious grants for basic and applied research are those from the Russian Science Foundation, including under the Presidential Program of Research Projects. As part of this program, competitions are held in four events. Almazov Centre has grants in two of the four areas of the Presidential Program.

In 2019, the Preclinical and Translational Research Centre was among the 18 Russia’s largest research infrastructure facilities and now it is successfully implementing 4 RSF grants received as a result of the competition for “Conducting research based on the existing world-class research infrastructure” of the Presidential Program of Research Projects. In 2021, the Preclinical and Translational Research Centre received 4 more RSF grants and became one of the 28 largest research infrastructure facilities in Russia.

In 2020, the project “Development of new neuromodulation-based technologies for heart failure prevention and treatment” received a grant for 2020—2022 from the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education to conduct major projects in priority R&D areas as part of the subprogram “Basic research for long-term development and competitiveness of society and the state” under the State Program of the Russian Federation for the Development of Science and Technology.

In 2020, Almazov Centre won the grant for 2020—2025 for the state support to establish and develop world-class research centres (WCRC) carrying out R&D on the priority areas of science and technology under the federal project “Development of research, development and production cooperation” of the national project “Science and Universities.” The World-Class Research Centre for Personalized Medicine was established as a consortium involving the Institute of Experimental Medicine and initiated by Evgeny Shlyakhto.
