Major research areas

The Department focuses on the study of molecular factors associated with smooth muscle cells in the formation and destabilization of atherosclerotic plaques as well as in restenosis process after reconstructive surgery.

Participation in State Assignments

Since 2018, the Laboratory has been actively involved in the following state assignments:

  • Circulating microparticles as endogenous carriers of nucleic acids in the pathogenesis of inflammatory and ischemic conditions of the cardiovascular system (supervised by A. Fedorova)
  • Testing the effects of the combined use of periodic pneumatic compression and programmed electrical myostimulation for arterial blood flow disorders in the extremities (supervised by A. Krutikov)

  • MicroRNAs in response to ischemic myocardial injury: role in the regulation of myocardial cells and mechanisms of export to the circulatory system (Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Grant No. 14-04-01833, 2014–2016)
  • Studying the role of asymmetric dimethylarginine in the pathogenesis of myocardial dysfunction combined with ischemic injury and diabetes mellitus (Federal Targeted Programme No. 8489, 2012–2013)
  • Behavioral characteristics of muscle cells in vivo, in vitro and ex vivo in systems simulating the development of cardiovascular conditions (State Contract No. 11.519.11.2018, 2011—2013)
  • Development of a new method for determining myocardial damage using microRNA study (State Contract No. 16.512.11.2043, 2011—2012)
